Last updated 2022-10-03 ·Reference W-11754564 ·Reported By 45 users
Guest users receive an error "Error: LWC component's @wire target property or method threw an error during value provisioning. Original error:
[Guest users are not permitted to perform this operation.]"
Response on Network log:
"message": "Guest users are not permitted to perform this operation."
Winter 23 orgs only
Create a custom object with lookup fields to Account and Contact.
Create a screen flow that has fields Lookup with field set to the lookups of the Custom object.
(Flow to be run as System -enforced sharing)
Got to Setup->Flows->Open Flow Options Menu->Change Access->Override Sharing->Grant access to all profiles
Create an experience site (Build Your Own (Aura)) and make it public- so guest users are able to see the site without login.
From Builder -> Settings -> Allow guest users to authenticate
In the guest user profile-> Enabled Flow-> Add the flow.
In Field level security of guest user profile-> Add the lookup fields
To access the guest user profile:
go to Builder->General->Click on "<Site Name> Public Profile"
In the custom object permission-> provide read and write.
Add Read permission to Account & Contact for Guest users or you can guest user sharing rules(to be more specific).
Go back to your site -> builder -> Add the "Flow" component to the page and configure it to target your flow.
Publish the site and navigate to it on a browser where you're not authenticated to your org.
Start searching in the lookup component, and it'll throw the error: “Error: LWC component’s @wire target property or method threw an error during value provisioning. Original error: [Guest users are not permitted to perform this operation.]”
This error can be reproduced outside of Flow contexts as well. Any place that uses a lookup in Flow or Lightning Web Components is impacted
None for Flow. For an LWC receiving this error use the Aura framework instead.
A prior version of this KI was specific to Flows. This issue affects all Lookups a Guest User utilizes in Flows or Lightning Web Components.
