Classification Rules | Incorrect Deletion Error Message "The Data Classification rule is used by a pattern, and cannot be deleted"
Last updated 16 days ago ·Reference W-11347058 ·Reported By 1 users
When creating a classification rule, a new generic bucket is created.
This bucket can be used in other data streams (Although not recommended).
It isn't possible to delete a classification rule while another data stream is using its bucket.
While this is the case, a wrong error message appears - "The Data Classification rule is used by a pattern, and cannot be deleted" indicates one of the rule's dimensions is being used in a pattern, which is not the case.
1. Create a Classification Rule
2. Create a Data Stream with the ClassRule Bucket
3. try to Delete the ClassRule from the ClassRule Tab.
4. Wrong Error message appears.
To delete the classification rule, search for its Generic Bucket name in the source field, for example, "TotalConnect (RULE_NAME)" within the Data Stream list. When found, change its bucket or delete this stream.
*There is another Data Stream with the classification rule bucket name; this is the Data Stream of the Rule itself; it can be Identified by the Source "Classification (RULE_NAME)".
