Summary
CDP data streams that pull from a Marketing Cloud Data Extension can unexpectedly begin to fail with the error message, "Provider failed DFU validation error - a mismatch in the number of fields was found in the object number." This can happen when new fields are added to the data extension, but not added to the data stream, along with new formula fields being created on the data stream.
Repro
1) For a data extension that is already being used as a CDP data stream, add a new field(s) to that data extension
2) Do not add the fields to the data stream
3) Create a new formula field on this data stream
4) The next refresh of that previously working data stream will see a failure
Workaround
Add any newly created source fields to your data stream and save. The next full run of that data stream should process and complete without failure.
