Summary
If a buyer places a subscription order with recurring payments, but doesn't save the payment information to their account's wallet, the recurring orders are created, but not the corresponding recurring payments.

Repro
1. Add a subscription product to cart.
2. Go to checkout.
3. Continue through checkout flow until the Payment section.
4. Enter details for a new payment (such as a purchase order number or a credit card number), but DON'T save the payment details to the wallet as a stored payment. Leave the Save Payment option unchecked.
5. Complete checkout.
6. Navigate to the My Subscriptions section of the My Account page. The subscriptions history shows subsequent orders have been created without any transaction payments.

Workaround
To ensure that the payment information is saved for recurring orders, extend the default checkout components to enforce enablement of the Save Payment option in the Payment section of the Checkout page.
