Summary
There is an isolated edge case where a published module will not display on a trail, even though it will appear under the Modules tab.

Depending on the order you add a trail or a module to a release manifest, you may encounter a different behavior with the module showing up in a trail upon publication.

The engineering team is working on a fix which should be deployed later this month. At which time, this edge case will no longer happen moving forward.

NOTE: after the fix is deployed, you will still need to re-publish the the trail to ensure that the proper relationship is created.

Repro
Assuming we have a trail and standalone module published in a new release:

1. create and publish trail
2. create and publish a standalone (not part of any trail) module

IF we create a new release and

1. first upsert trail with new module
2. then upsert module
RESULT: the module will still appear on the modules page but will NOT appear in the Trail - the trail will appear to be a module short

However, IF we create a new release and

1. first upsert module
2. then upsert trail with new module
RESULT: the module will still appear on the modules page AND appear in the trail - the trail will have the correct # of modules

Workaround
Create a new release and

1. first upsert module
2. then upsert trail with new module
RESULT: the module will still appear on the modules page AND appear in the trail - the trail will have the correct # of modules
