Accessibility: Invalid Dates are not Shown as Disabled to Assistive Technology

Summary
Although invalid dates in date pickers are visually shown as being disabled or grayed out, they can still be selected using keyboard-only navigation and no indication of their disabled status is provided to assistive technology.
Repro
1. Log into Salesforce.
2. Select Opportunities from the App Launcher.
3. Select an opportunity from the list view.
4. Press the Edit button.
5. Press the Select a Date button next to the Close Date field.
6. Make sure the JAWS or NVDA screen reader is running and speech is being heard.
7. Press up arrow until a disabled (grayed out) date has been selected. Observe that there is no nonvisual indication that the date is disabled or invalid.
8. Press enter to close the date picker.
9. Press the tab key to move to the next field. Observe that no error message indicates that an invalid date was selected.
