Contacts fail to inject when case mismatch on Subscriber Relationship field

When making edits to Data Extension fields, it is possible to update the field used in the Subscriber Relationship. This causes contacts to fail to be injected into Journey Builder.
In Contact Builder, go to Data Extensions
Find a Data Extension (DE) you want to use in a Journey
Click the edit icon next to the field used in the Subscriber Relationship, eg SUBSCRIBERKEY
Change it from SUBSCRIBERKEY to subscriberkey
Note the field updates but the Subscriber Relationship shows the old value
Use this DE in a Journey and note that no records get injected
Re-save the Subscriber Relationship with the updated field name
