Last updated 2021-02-16 ·Reference W-8297349 ·Reported By 4 users
Customers may receive errors when attempting to add specific lookup fields to External Object Reports.
In Lightning Experience, the error message will state "Error Details. An unexpected error occurred. Please include this ErrorId if you contact support: XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXX (1253075140)".
In Salesforce Classic, the error message will begin with "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException".
1 - Create an external data Source
2 - Create an external object. Ensure you create at least one lookup field to a standard object (like on "Leads").
3 - Ensure you have records within your external object where the field mentioned in step 2 does not contain a value.
4 - Create a report on this external object and add the lookup field (created in step 2) as a column to be displayed within the report.
5 - Immediately after adding the lookup field to the report, you will notice an error message as explained in the "Summary" section above.
