Tableau CRM (Einstein Analytics): Unable to Edit a Query from a Date Widget

Users may be unable to edit queries from date widgets.
1 - Drag and Drop a date widget
2 - Click on the date widget and attach a date field to it.
3 - Double Click on the date widget to get it into Explorer.
4 - Apply any changes (like adding a filter on the same date field equal to the current FY)
5 - Click "Update"
6 - The update will fail and result in the screen becoming stuck.
In the case of legacy range lenses, the resulting metadata won't have any grouping information.
