Apex class is not respecting the installed package version dependency of P1 package in P2 package if we override P1 package version in subscriber class and if that is called before manage package class.

Dev org 1 setup :
1)Sign up dev org and add a namespace (please use a long, random namespace to avoid using up a real one, it is shortened to “P1” here for consistency)
2)Enable permission ManagedComponentDeletion to delete (this requires SFDC support)
3)Add to custom text fields on any entity. For this example, take product entity
Field A
Type : Text
Name = FieldA
Field B
Type: Text
Name = FieldB
4)Upload this package ( give this package version 1 )
5)Note package install url
6)now delete field A
upload package again ( give package version 2)
Dev org 2 setup
1)Sign up new dev org and assign namespace DEV 1
2)Create the following classes

global class Finder{

global static List<String> showCustomFields(Schema.SobjectType sObjectType){

List<String> fieldNames = new List<String>();

Schema.DescribeSObjectResult metadata = sObjectType.getDescribe();

for(Schema.SObjectField field: metadata.fields.getMap().values()){

schema.describefieldresult dfield = field.getDescribe();

return fieldNames;

public class FinderTest {
static testMethod void find() {
3)Upload this package ( give package version 1 )
4)Note down install package link
Subscriber org setup :

1)Sign up enterprise org
2)Install first package ( Dev org 1 and version 1 )
3)Install second package ( Dev org 1 and version 2 )
4)you can go to product object and see field A is deprecated and only available in version 1
Install third package ( Dev org 2 and version 1 )
create following classes
public class MyController {
public List<String> whatTypes {

get {
return P1.Finder.showCustomFields(product2.sObjectType);
VF Page

Label: Finder

Name: Finder

<apex:page controller="MyController">
<apex:repeat value="{!whatTypes}" var="t">
<apex:outputText value="{!t}" />
<br />
5)Now go to this url
6)You will see only P1__FieldB__c which is correct because at runTime we always use the latest installed package version.
7)Now go to MyController class from UI , click on edit and change DEV package version to 1 ( from 2) and save.
8)If you open this URL ($hostName/apex/Finder ) again, you will see both Field A and Field B.

This is due to the Apex runtime falling back to the stack frame in the call chain to obtain version dependency information if the current stack frame is executing managed code that does not have an explicit dependency.

Update the manage package version in subscriber class.

Is it Fixed?
