Individual Email Results may not be created for A/B sends using Salesforce Data Extensions

When a user performs an A/B test send within Marketing Cloud to a Salesforce Data Extension a send definition is created in the Salesforce Email Send tab. This send definition should be deleted automatically and three send definitions should be created for the A, B, and winner sends. In some cases, the final call that deletes the initial send definition and as well as the three new definitions, can fail. This prevents IERs from being created.
- Create an A/B Send to a Salesforce Data Extension within the Marketing Cloud.
- Start the send and wait for it to complete/force it to complete after the initial sends go out
- Observe a matching send definition in the Sales Cloud, displaying a status of "In Progress". This status does not update as the A/B send completes.
Once the test is complete and Sales Cloud has the placeholder send definition:
- Travel to that send definition, delete the Backup Workflow Date/Time and save. (click the date, delete it, hit enter twice). This workaround is intermittently successful.
