Entry Source Data Extension for Salesforce Data Journey creates picklist fields with 40 character limit
Last updated 2021-03-30 ·Reference W-8931412 ·Reported By 1 users
When creating a Salesforce Data Entry Journey and including a picklist field in the entry data, the entry source data extension creates this field with character limit of 40. However, picklist fields can be created with a value of up to 255 characters. This causes contacts to fail to inject into the Journey.
-Navigate to Journey Builder > create a new Journey
-Drag the Salesforce Data Entry Event to the canvas
-Create a new Journey > select an object with a picklist field
-Select to inject a contact or user
-Set entry criteria to "IsCreated" and "IsUpdated"
-Select "meets specific criteria" drag the picklist field over, select an option that is over 40 characters
-Click next on filter criteria
-In Entry data, expand the object and click to include the picklist field in the entry source DE
-Add a random split to the canvas
-Click journey settings to set entry settings and default email
-Activate the Journey
-The Data Extension is created with the picklist field set to 40 characters
-Create a new record of the object to trigger injection
-Since the selected criteria was over 40 characters, the contact fails to inject
Manually increase the character limit of the picklist field on the entry source data extension to 255 characters.
