Outlook Integration displays "Something happened when we tried to connect to the Exchange server" when opening an occurrence of an event series

When opening an occurrence of an event series that was sync'ed by Lightning Sync, Outlook Integration displays the error "Something happened when we tried to connect to the Exchange server. View more details."
Clicking on the "more details" link presents a popup screen with the message:
"Hmm. The email server is unavailable. Try again later.
Error code: ErrorCorruptData"
Clicking on "Technical Stuff" displays a text box with the wording "Data is corrupt., Store ID isn't an ID of a folder, item or mailbox."
The issue can also happen when opening event series that were not sync'ed with Lightning Sync (in non-Lightning Sync enabled orgs)
1.- In your Lightning Sync-enabled org, create an event series and allow it to sync to Outlook
2.- Open Outlook
3.- In your Outlook calendar, navigate to one of the events in the series
4.- Open the event and launch Outlook Integration
After a few seconds, the side panel will display the error message "Something happened when we tried to connect to the Exchange server. View more details."
