Lightning Search TOP Results does not return records. shows "Hmm...something's not right"

Summary
Some customers may have observed that post-upgrade to Winter'21 end users are seeing the following message when search returns no TOP results in Lightning Experience:
"Hmm...something's not right"
If you look in Dev Console(Network Tab), you'll see the following error:

exceptionMessage: "ui.services.connection.api.PartnerConnectionException: MALFORMED_SEARCH: The article type you are searching for has not been deployed:<Article Type Name__kav>
Steps on how to confirm the above in Dev Console:
Dev Console:
============
1. Hit F12 on your keyboard OR click on the 3 vertical dots on ur browser(top right) | Click on More Tools | Developer Console.
2. Click the 'Network' tab
3. In Lightning Experience, search for the term that would give you the no results error.
4. In the Network Tab click on "aura?r=29&ui-search-components-forcesearch-topresultsdataprovider.TopResultsDataProvider.getItems=1"
5. On the right pane, right-click and click on Expand Recursively
6. Scroll down and you should see the following:

This issue occurs when the org has not completed steps for Lightning Knowledge Migration, in this case the Admin needs to either Accept or Cancel The Org migration.
Important Note:
1. If you choose to accept, old article types will be deleted.
2. If you choose to Cancel, the new knowledge base will be deleted.

Repro
1.. In Aloha Classic UI -> Setup -> Knowledge, rename the Knowledge entity to something else (e.g. testKnowledge).
2.. Create a couple of Knowledge records and publish them.
3. Enable Lightning Knowledge Migration.
4. In Lightning Experience -> Setup -> Lightning Knowledge Migration Assistant, start the migration.
5. Stop when you have reached the Validation step.
6. Perform a Lightning Experience global search. It will not return any Top Results until the admin either chooses to Accept OR Cancel the Lightning Knowledge Migration.
Workaround
- Click on Show more.
- Run a scoped Search on the object by either selecting it from the search drop-down OR from the search results page.
- Click on Accept OR cancel in the validation step of your lightning knowledge migration
