Changing a synchronized object field's datatype without first unsyncing the field, will break the synchronization of that object

Fixed in version Marketing Cloud Release January 2021
When using synchronized data sources, when a field is synced, we create that field with a data type that cannot be changed after it is synced. If you then attempt to modify a synchronized field's data type while it is still synchronized, that object will have issues synchronizing all data as expected after the update.
1) In a Marketing Cloud account that is integrated with Salesforce, navigate to Contact Builder.
2) Access Synchronized Data Sources and sync a field in any object. For example, sync a text field that contains text such as true or false
3) After this field has been created and synced into the Marketing Cloud, access Salesforce and modify this field to be a boolean field
4) Future updates of that field and the object will have not function as expected.
Do not change the data type of a Salesforce field that is already synced into the Marketing Cloud without first removing that field from the synchronized object. A support case is needed to delete the field if not first removed before changing the data type.
