'Hmm, that didn’t work' error on 'Apply & Save' of filter for Activity Timeline
Last updated 2022-02-10 ·Reference W-6182707 ·Reported By 3 users
Summary
Users may report that setting their Activity Timeline filter from the current value to another and clicking 'Apply & Save' results in the following error:
Hmm, that didn’t work. Refresh the page and try again, or contact your Salesforce admin.
When users attempt to save their activity timeline filter preferences a new internal record to store those preferences is saved in the database.
In rare circumstances where two users share the same case insensitive User Ids, saving filter preferences may cause in a unique constraint violation which results in the generic error above.
Repro
1. Locate the Activity Timeline on a record page in Lightning and click the Filter Icon and change the DATE RANGE from its current value of 'Within 2 months' to 'All Time' and click 'Apply & Save.'
Actual Results: Error Message: Hmm, that didn’t work. Refresh the page and try again, or contact your Salesforce admin.
Expected Results: User would not be presented with the error and able to save the selected DATE RANGE.
Workaround
Affected users may click 'Apply' instead of 'Apply & Save' however, there is no workaround available to save the user's filter preference selection at this time.
