Click on Proxy Task created for an EmailMessage navigates to Task instead of EmailMessage
Last updated 2022-02-10 ·Reference W-6056472 ·Reported By 0 users
Summary
On Salesforce Mobile App or Mobile Web Browser, the link of Task in ActivityHistory navigates the user to Task view instead of the expected EmailMessage view. The navigation works correctly in Desktop View i.e. the user is taken to the EmailMessage view.
Repro
The issue is reproducible in 2 scenarios
1st Scenario
1) Make sure Enhanced Email is Enabled in the org.
2) From any Contact/Lead/Opportunity or custom object record, compose an email and add an attachment.
3) Click on Send
4) Log on to Salesforce App app for iOS/Android on Mobile or open Salesforce in Mobile Web browser.
5) Navigate to the contact/Lead/Opportunity record you used in Step 2 and look under Activity History. A Task should show with the name same as that of the Email Subject.
6) Click on the Task link.
7) Note that the link navigates to Task view instead of EmailMessage view and the attachment would not be visible in the task record.
8) On the Desktop browser, the same link will navigate the user to the EmailMessage view and attachment will be visible under Attachment related list.
2nd Scenario
1) Make sure Enhanced Email is enabled in the Org and under Outlook/Gmail integration "Use Enhanced Email with Outlook / Use Enhanced Email with Gmail" is Enable.
2) Setup Outlook integration on your Outlook by following article: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=app_for_outlook_install_addin.htm&type=5
3) Create a case and associate a Contact.
4) Log on to Outlook Web Application and, open any email with an attachment from the inbox and click on Salesforce cloud icon. In case if OWA asks for -- Salesforce login, enter the credentials used in Step 2 to create Case.
5) Click on "Log an Email"
6) Choose the Contact created in Step 2. Ensure that "Include attachment" is checked.
7) Click on Save.
8) Log on to Salesforce App for iOS/Android on Mobile or open Salesforce in Mobile Web browser.
9) Navigate to the Contact created in Step 2 and look under Activity History. A Task should show with the name same as that of the Email Subject.
10) Click on the Task link.
11) Note that the link navigates to Task view instead of EmailMessage view and the attachment would not be visible in the task record.
12) On the Desktop browser, the same link will navigate the user to the EmailMessage view and attachment will be visible under Attachment related list.
Workaround
For First scenarios: No workaround
For the Second Scenario: User can disable "Use Enhanced Email with Outlook / Use Enhanced Email with Gmail" under Outlook/Gmail integration and the email logged from Outlook Integration/Gmail integration will still be logged as task, however, the attachments will be available under Files related list on the task record in mobile and also in desktop view.
