Canceling the creation of 'New Account' while selecting the Account (lookup) for opportunity, cancels the creation of opportunity.

Summary
When you try creating a new opportunity, it opens a new popup window . If the user do not want to set an existing Account and wants to create a new account from the lookup , it opens a new popup window to create an Account.
Suppose the user changes his mind and clicks on "Cancel" for creating the new account, it is expected that the underlying popup window for creating the new opportunity will be returned. But it cancels the whole process and returns to the list view/record.
Repro
1.Go to opportunity tab in lightning.
2.Click New.
3.Choose any record type, if any.
4. On the page to fill in data for new opportunity, choose any lookup field ( for example account)
5. For the lookup field, choose to create a new record.
6. Once the pop up appears, click on Cancel
Observe that all the pop ups are closed while we expect it to the pop up for creating opportunity.
Workaround
This happens when the below perm is enabled:
Go to Setup >> Opportunity Settings >> Disable the perm: "Prompt users to add products to opportunities".
