Define Properties view displays Default Content instead of ContentBlockByID Ampscript function when default is changed

When previewing a dynamic content block from the Define Properties view in Content Builder the preview is supposed to render the ContentBlockByID Ampscript function. If the default content block is replaced with new content and the Done button is not clicked, the Define Properties view will display the default dynamic content rather than the ContentBlockByID Ampscript function.
1.) Create a Dynamic Content block from Content Builder with a default + 1 variant - choose option "Keep content blocks up-to-date."
2.) Create a template based email and add the dynamic content block
3.) Check Email Send Define Properties view - this will show Ampscript function ContentBlockByID()
4.) Go back to email and edit the Dynamic Content block by changing default content to a new content block but do not click the Done button.
5.) Check Email Send Define Properties view -- now it renders default content
Click the Done button after changing the default content.
