Activity Timeline in Lightning doesn't display all Tasks and may display tasks twice if multiple tasks share the same due date

Summary
In Lightning when you click the More Steps button in the Activity Timeline you may see some Tasks repeated/duplicated and some Tasks may not be shown at all. This will typically happen if multiple Tasks have the same due date.
Repro
1. Login as a User with access to Opportunities
2. Switch to Salesforce Classic UI and create an Opportunity
3. Create 17 Tasks without a due date and relate them to the Opportunity
4. Switch to Salesforce Lightning UI and navigate to the Opportunity
5. Click the More Steps button until the button is disabled
Workaround
No workarounds at this time. Users may want to temporarily switch to Salesforce Classic UI when viewing the Tasks within an Opportunity.
