Text fields not respecting line breaks when Platform Encryption enabled

Summary
Text fields that are enabled for Platform Encryption are not respecting any line breaks within the value.
Repro
Enable the Case Comments field for Platform Encryption within Setup
Add a new Case Comment to a Case that has line breaks, such as:
Test
Test
Test
Save the Case Comment
Notice the value says 'Test Test Test'.
Workaround
Disable Platform Encryption on that field if possible
