Unable to Deploy Article Type object that references a Global Picklist with ANT

Summary
Global Picklists retrieved with ANT cannot be deployed to source org or any other destination org. Deployments fail with this error:

Cannot specify 'globalPicklist' for a CustomField of type Picklist for entity <ENTITY__NAME>

This is a limitation with Knowledge Article Types and Global Picklists in Metadata deploys.

Note: Global Picklists are a Pilot feature in Spring release.

Repro
1) Create and associate a Global Picklist to a Custom Field on the Article Type Object.
2) Retrieve the Objects and associated Global Picklists with ANT.
3) Deploy the retrieved zip file without changing any of the Metadata on source org or any other destination org.
4) Receive the error "Cannot specify 'globalPicklist' for a CustomField of type Picklist for entity <ENTITY__NAME>"

Workaround
The current work around is to do it manually.
