Salesforce for Outlook - Syncing contact name fails with a custom mapping for middle name field
Last updated 2018-08-31 ·Reference W-3845677 ·Reported By 0 users
If you are matching a contact with differences in first and last name between Salesforce and Outlook where the Salesforce contact has a middle name and the Outlook contact doesn't, when we sync, only the middle name change will sync to Outlook.
In certain cases, you would need to edit the contact in Outlook and click on the Full Name field to see the changes.
1- Install SFO 3.3.1
2- Set your Contacts Sync to sync Both Ways with "Salesforce Always Wins" for Conflict Resolution
3- Enable the "Middle Name" field under Setup | Customize | User Interface | Name Settings or just create a custom text field for it,
4- Add custom field mapping to Outlook Configuration.
Salesforce: Middle Name
5- Have a contact that exists in Salesforce and Outlook.
Example: In Outlook John Smith
6- In Salesforce, change the name to Johnny J Smithy ('J' in the 'Middle Name' field)
7- Outlook contact is changed to John J Smith (When clicking on Full Name button on contact, it will show "Johnny J Smithy" but it will only show "John J Smith" on the Contacts page and the opened Contact pop-out.)
delete the field mapping for the Middle Name
