Long Delay opening Apex Class Access from a permission set or Profile

When opening the Apex Class Access from either a permission set or a profile, users may experience long delays and/or timeouts. This occurs due to a large number of Apex Classes assigned. For example if there are 1000+ apex classes listed under Apex Class Access this will cause a delay in loading.
1. Login into your salesforce org.
2. From setup open either a permission set or profile
3. Click on Apex Class Access
If updates are required to the apex class access, this can be done through the API. No delays are seen when accessing through the API.
