Username containing an apostrophe causes error within Lightning

Usernames that contain an apostrophe with throw an error when accessing records within Lightning.
1. Create a user with their username containing an apostrophe.
Example: John O'Smith
2. Have this user access records within Lightning Experience.
3. Experience the following error:
"We couldn't find the record you are trying to access. It may have been deleted by another user, or there may have been a system error." Followed by an Error ID Number.
Use Classic as the error is not present in this UI.
