Managed custom object's page shows Classic view in Lightning
Last updated 2017-10-14 ·Reference W-3710151 ·Reported By 38 users
Summary
Managed package custom object's Visualforce page shows Classic view in Lightning, even though the Tab's page is set to standard page for the subscriber users.
Repro
1. Create a Developer Org and upload a managed Package
Managed package should have a custom object and tab overridden with Visualforce.
2. Install this Managed package in any org. Once installed, go to custom object from Setup (Setup --> Create --> Objects, Scroll down to Buttons, Links and Actions --> Click edit on Tab settings) and remove the visualforce override and set it to standard Salesforce.com page
When the user is in Lightning, the page will show classic view for the above packaged object
Workaround
- For the subscriber, org admin can clone the managed lightning page and activate it. The admin can view the page in Setup, where typically they see the Edit option which opens it in App Builder.
- If the page is from a managed package, they will instead see the Clone option. When the admin clicks Clone, it creates a copy and opens it in App Builder where it can be customized then activated just like any other page
