Possible to rename a List View’s dev name (View Unique Name) to an existing value
Last updated 2022-02-10 ·Reference W-3235261 ·Reported By 0 users
Summary
Currently if a user attempts to create a list view with the same developer name (View Unique Name) as an existing list view, they will receive a validation error message that prompts them to enter a unique value, thereby preventing two list views from sharing the same value.
However, if a user edits an existing list view and renames its developer name to a duplicate value, they will be able to save the changes without error.
Repro
1- Navigate to any object’s tab and click ‘Create New View’.
2- Enter the following and click [Save].
  View Name = ListA
  View Unique Name = ListA
3- Click ‘Create New View’ again.
4- Enter the following and click [Save].
  View Name = ListB
  View Unique Name = ListB
5- Click ‘Edit’.
6- Change View Unique Value ListB to ListA and click [Save].
7- Confirm that the edited list view saves without error.
Workaround
If two list views are found to have the same developer name, this method can be used to make the values unique.
