Custom Metadata Types are listed incorrectly as custom objects when using Data Import Wizard
Last updated 2017-04-14 ·Reference W-3047345 ·Reported By 2 users
Summary
Currently, the Data Import Wizard will incorrectly list Custom Metadata Types as Custom Objects. If an import or update is attempted, it will not be successful, and throw errors during the field mapping step.
Repro
1) Go to Setup │ Develop │ Custom Metadata Types
2) Click "New Custom Metadata Type"
3) Fill out the required fields to create a new Custom Metadata Type
4) Save
5) Go to Setup │ Administer │ Data Management │ Data Import Wizard
6) Launch the Data Import Wizard
7) Select Custom Objects
You will see the Custom Metadata Type created in step 3 listed as a custom object, but it should not be listed.
Workaround
Data Import Wizard cannot be used to insert/update these types of records. Please use Metadata API to insert, update or delete custom metadata types and records.
Refer to page 11 of the Custom Metadata Type Implementation guide for more details:
