Event Date in Activity Timeline shows the next day based on GMT time's date instead of the current user timezone's date
Last updated 2018-02-10 ·Reference W-4256217 ·Reported By 23 users
When viewing an Event in a record's activity timeline it may show the Date portion as the next day incorrectly.
This occurs when the GMT equivalent of the Event's start date/time is equal to or past 12:00 AM the following day.
The causes the Event's Date in Activity Timeline corresponds to the GMT time's date instead of the current user timezone's date.
For example, if you have a user whose time zone is GMT-04:00 and they create an Event with a Start date of 8/16/2017 at 8:00 PM EDT viewing the Event in the Activity timeline will show: 8:00 PM Aug 17 since the date component is being displayed based on the GMT conversion: 8/17/2017 at 12:00 AM GMT.
Prerequisites: Set the logged in user's Time Zone to: (GMT-04:00) Eastern Daylight Time (America/New_York)
1. Login as the Admin user and open Lightning Experience if it isn't already:
2. Create a Lead record
3. Navigate to the Activity Tab on the Lead record and click New Event using the following details:
Start Date: 8/16/2017 Time: 8:00 PM
End Date: 8/16/2017 Time: 9:00 PM
Actual Results: When viewing the Event record on the Lead's Activity Timeline it shows the Date/Time of:
8:00 PM | Aug 17
Expected Results: The date component for the Event in the Activity timeline would show 8:00 PM | Aug 16 and be based on the current user's timezone and not GMT.
None at this time.
Please ask users to open the actual event records they're interested in to see and confirm the correct date.
