For Marketing Cloud emails built with both the classic editor, when sending via integration to Salesforce, and targeting a report or campaign, if the email contains a bad personalization string the send does not result in validation error. The send completes, but no email is sent.
1. Create an email with an incorrectly-typed personalization string, such as %%emialaddr%%
2. Validate the email against a list or data extension, notice it fails validation.
3. Send the email to a Salesforce report or campaign, using Send Flow for Content Builder emails or Guided Send for emails built with the classic editor.
4. The send process completes without error, but no email is sent.
The send is failing as designed due to failing validation, but the user is not alerted at the time of the send. Validating emails before sending will allow you to find any incorrectly typed personalization strings.
