WAVE - Activity Metrics App - When an org has only one role, choosing not to use the role hierarchy in the app wizard causes a dataflow error
Last updated 2017-10-14 ·Reference W-3884861 ·Reported By 2 users
When an organization only has one role in the hierarchy and an Activity Metrics app is created in Wave Analytics, the dataflow will fail with the following error:
"There was an error executing the UserRolesWithParentRoleName node: Can't find dimension ParentRoleId in update dataset"
1. Ensure that the org has only one role, and at least one user assigned to that role
2. Create a new Activity Metrics app in Wave Analytics, and choose "No" to the question asking if you use the role hierarchy
3. Observe that the dataflow will fail when it reaches the "UserRolesWithParentRoleName" node
4. While the app does eventually get created, the dataflow error will prevent the dashboard from working
Create a second role in the hierarchy below the first role, and ensure it is assigned to at least one user. Then, delete and re-create the Activity Metrics app.
