Cannot save/publish owned audiences without Audience Builder Admin or Read Contact Data permission
Last updated 2020-01-24 ·Reference W-7133996 ·Reported By 0 users
In order to save or publish an audience in audience builder, the user must either have the Admin permission checked in the AB General Permissions, OR Salesforce Marketing Cloud > Contacts > Read Contact Data set to allowed. If these are both set to denied, "An error occurred saving the Audience.null" will be displayed in the user interface when saving/publishing.
-With a user with full Audience Builder permissions, create and save a new audience
-Create a Role where all permissions under Audience Builder > Owned Audiences are checked, including the permission to Publish. Grant all permissions under Audience Builder > General EXCEPT Admin. Set Admin to Deny. Set Salesforce Marketing Cloud > Contacts > Read Contact Data to Deny.
-Assign the new Role to the user in the first step, ensuring no other Roles are applied or any other permissions are set at the individual level for the user. Log out and back in to the application.
-Navigate to the audience created in step 1. Attempt to hit "Save and Publish" or "Save." The UI throws the error "An error occurred saving the Audience. - null".
Grant the Admin permission under "Audience Builder > General" to the user OR Grant the Salesforce Marketing Cloud > Contacts > Read Contact Data permission to the user
