Front-End Form Validation for Emails Doesn't Apply to Custom Email Fields
Last updated 2020-09-08 ·Reference W-7028684 ·Reported By 9 users
When custom email fields created on a form and chooses one of the data format options ("Email", "Email with valid mail server" and "Email not from ISPs and free email providers"), Pardot's pre-submission validation does not run for custom email fields. As a result, prospects can submit bogus values to these form fields and not have validation applied to them.
1) Create a custom prospect field and choose "Text" as the "Type" value
2) Create or edit an existing form
3) Choose "Add New Field" on Step 2 of the form wizard. Select your custom email field from the "Prospect Field" dropdown and select one of the data format options ("Email", "Email with valid mail server" and "Email not from ISPs and free email providers") from the "Data Format" dropdown
4) Save the form
5) Attempt to submit the form with an invalid value for the custom email field ("123", "firstname.lastname@example.org", etc) and note that Pardot accepts the value for the custom email field
