Summary
Joined report based on a Custom Report Type of Opportunities with at least one Opportunity Feed returns only FeedPosts/FeedItems from Opportunities the running user owns.
This requires the running user to be part of the role hierarchy.
Repro
1. Create a Custom Report Type Opportunities with Opportunity feed.
2. Create chatter comments on multiple Opportunities, some that you own, some that other users own.
3. Create a report based on the CRT created above, including the following fields as columns:
*Opportunity Name
*Opportunity Owner: Full Name
*Body
*Created By: Full Name
4. Run the report, noting the results.
5. Edit the report.
6. Click the down arrow next to the word "Report" in the upper left corner and choose "Joined Report" then click "Apply".
7. Note that the previewed results still display the expected records.
8. Click Run.
9. Note that only the Opportunities owned by the logged in user are displayed.
10. Now navigate to your logged in user in setup and change the role to null
11. Navigate back to your Joined report and you'll now see all expected records
Workaround
Ensuring all users are assigned to a role will allow all records to be seen, taking into consideration all other sharing and visibility factors.
