Sales Path not refreshing with Process Builder or Workflow Rules

Summary
Sales Path shows an incorrect value if you make a change using the Sales Path and there's a workflow rule or a process affecting that same field.
Repro
1. Create a Workflow/Process that changes the Opportunity Stage field.
2. Using Lightning, make a change that triggers that Workflow Rule/Process using the Sales Path.
Actual Results: the value in the Stage field will be updated as per the Workflow/Process definition, however, the Sales Path will display an incorrect value.
Workaround
- Make the change to the record with the Edit or Inline Editing.
- Use Classic.
