WAVE - "Your session expired or couldn't be established." or Looping Refreshes when accessing Wave Analytics

Summary
This manifests in two ways when accessing Wave Analytics:
1. "Your session expired or couldn't be established. Please ensure you're logged in and have access to Wave Analytics."
2. The screen will load into the Wave home screen and will immediately refresh. This cyclical refresh will continue to occur indefinitely. Clicking into the alternate tabs available within the application has no impact on the behavior. The browser will return to the Wave home screen and refresh again.
Repro
Access the "Wave Analytics" app.
Observe one of the above behaviours.
Workaround
Disable the following setting:
Setup | Security Controls | Session Settings | Require HttpOnly attribute
