Salesforce for Outlook: Associating an event in the Side Panel and syncing the update of an event create a duplicate
Email Clients , Outlook , Spring 14
Last updated 2015-06-03 ·Reference W-2163382 ·Reported By 9 users
Summary
The 'Add Event' button via the Side Panel, combined with the standard Event Sync for the same Event, create duplicate records in Outlook and Salesforce.
This has been confirmed in SFO version 2.4.2
Repro
1) Create an event in Microsoft Outlook
2) Synchronize either manually via the system tray or via the normally scheduled synchronization process
Result: the event is created in Salesforce
3) In Microsoft Outlook, select the same event and relate it to a Salesforce record using the Side Panel
4) A new event record is created in Salesforce
Result: there are now two duplicated events in Salesforce. Upon the next sync, that newly added event gets back into Microsoft Outlook, resulting in a duplicate event there as well.
Workaround
Users can relate the synchronized event within the Salesforce application.
Or they can delete the duplicate event manually.
Or they can do the association and the event edit before the event synchronizes at all.
