Salesforce for Outlook: changing "what" association in the Side Panel raises a red error

Summary
Associating an mail in the side panel to a "what" object then changing this "what" object during in the same action causes a error in the side panel.
Repro
1. In Outlook select a mail from your mailbox for a Contact that has Account, Opportunity or Custom object records associated with it. Search should find Account, Contact and Opportunity in the side panel.
2. Add the mail to the Opportunity or Account
3. Add the mail to the Opportunity or other "what" object to observe the error"
Sidepanel shows red error message with - email wasn't added because "insertAssociation: Insert failed. First exception on row 0..........

Workaround
After seeing the error in the side panel click on another record in the mailbox and then click back on the record that had the problem and now select the correct "what" record.
