Chatter Topic "Talking About" / "Person Talking" Stopped Updating

Some customers have reported that Chatter Topic "Talking About" or "Person Talking" value stopped updating.

Some customers have reported that Chatter Topic "Talking About" or "Person Talking" value stopped updating.

1. Log into Salesforce
2. Click on "Chatter" tab
3. Click on "Topics" to see list of topics.

Each topic has "Person Talking" number. The "Person Talking" number is no longer incrementing nor decrementing for all topics.

To workaround, please do the following:

1. With Data Loader, export all records from Topics object to CSV file
2. In CSV file, each unique NETWORKID should not have duplicate topics. Therefore, if your org has communities enabled, each community would have it’s own unique NETWORKID. Internally, Salesforce will use lower case and remove spaces between topic words. Therefore, topics such as “HelloWorld” and “hello world” are treated as duplicates as “helloworld”
3. In topics CSV file, filtering on each unique NETWORKID, create excel formula to remove spaces between topic name and convert to lower case. Again, topics such as “HelloWorld” and “hello world” would both translate to “helloworld”. If you find any duplicate topics with same NETWORKID value, please log back into Salesforce to either delete or merge that topic to eliminate duplicates.

Currently, it's not possible to fully prevent duplicate topics. Please use workaround if duplicates appear in org. Once known issue is fix, "Person Talking" number should work correctly.
