Assigned To lookup's Multiple Users tab still visible after disabling the "Enable Group Tasks" activity setting when shared activities are enabled

When the "Group Tasks" activity setting is disabled, the Task's Assigned To field lookup's search window still displays the Multiple Users tab when creating a new task associated to a Lead or Contact.
1. Enabled Shared Activities (Setup, Customize | Activities | Activity settings)
2. Disable Group Tasks (Setup, Customize | Activities | Activity settings)
3. Create 1 Contact and 1 Lead
4. Create a new task for each from their activity history related list and click the lookup icon for the Task's Assigned To field.
Expected Results: Single user lookup should appear with no multiple user tab present.
Actual Results: Multiple Users tab is present and upon selecting multiple users and saving the Task results in: Error: Assigned To: id value of incorrect type: ...
