Internal Server Error trying to Edit the Sharing Settings if the Org has protected Objects

Summary
The Organization-wide Defaults Edit page cannot be accessed in Organizations that have Protected Objects coming from a package.

Repro
1. Install a Package that comes with a protected object.
2. Go to Setup -> Security Controls -> Sharing Settings and click Edit button

Actual Results: Internal Server Error will happen.
The following stacktrace (-488750848) is indicative of this issue.
