Cut and paste image into rich text fields

Customization & App Building

Now that we rich text fields with the ability to view images in line it would be a great benifit to allow for cutting and pasting images directly into the field without having point to a saved file. This is especially useful for support organizations who have the need to cut and paste screen shots into the Cases.

I understand the frustration -- we're looking into this, but as you can see from the comments, it's working for some people, and not working for others.

Also, fyi, Marcus decided to move on and is no longer at Salesforce.

Again - needless to say: 8 years old, 11000+ points but still not implemented. And moreover: Marcus' comment leads to the impression that if it would come one day it would only be available in LEX....

I have a work around in the meantime for E-Mail to Case / Case Management where if the Agent wants to copy and paste into a Case, they still use Gmail/Outlook for drafting the actual e-mail to do the copy/pasting job (so need to have one tab Email / other tab Salesforce open) and they put in the cc field the Email to Case Salesforce address ie enquiries@q-1shczp9kuouedjcv6xz8pdcd68g0oan3sjw31uno93ol0731nv.0o-thhyuau.eu9.case.salesforce.com which you can get from Email to Case settings in Set Up. This way the reply from Gmail/Outlook gets logged into Salesforce and in the subject the agent needs to copy in the reference ID from the Case if it's an existing case for it to be logged against the Case (you can get this by replying/forwarding an existing case and in the subject line it will show the ref number ie [ ref:_00D0OtHhY._5000O1RPXUb:ref ] make sure this is copied in the Subject/body so it can reference this email to the same case. If the agent creates a new case they can just draft the email in Gmail/Outlook doing their copy/paste job and then use the Email to Case address which creates the Case also in Salesforce and they can then manage the case from there. Not ideal but at least a work around in the meantime.

Please please please implement this soon, this is causing a real problem for our agent and is the only issue that stops us embracing Case Management as now we feel like we would revert back to just using Gmail.

Must have feature! We need to be able to use CRTL+c and CTRL+v in order to copy and paste images in emails.

Now also Gmail 'emailservice via web' allows it, so technology is there. That's a terrific improvement to spike adoption.

Yeah this needs to be the ctrl+v paste from clipboard directly into the email body frame. Works in Chatter now, and a bit mystifying why it doesn't do the same thing in the email. When customer support agents are sending screen captures to help a customer diagnose an issue, the upload and attach methodology is an adoption killer. Next release is coming when, exactly?

I can confrim, that it doesn't work in Chrome for Windows (Version 67.0.3396.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)), but it works in IE 11.0.9600

Salesforce, please fix it for Chrome. Our entire organization was forced to move away from IE as we were told it is not anymore supported by SF only to learn that new fetures does work with EI but not Chrome....

Crazy! In Chrome for Windows, the image *will* paste from the clipboard, but is not recognized as an object; the "Comment" button stays greyed out until you add text. Then when you click "Comment" the text is posted but the image is not... if this is working in other browsers and even Chrome for OS X then pleeeeeeeeeeeeese fix for Chrome for Windows!

Pasting image from screenshots or saved from clipboard to body of email would really help us improve productivity.
Looking forward to get this implemented soon.
We are able to to this on gmail, hotmail and outlook.

We also tested with IE. Copy and paste works, however, the image is not being displayed for email recipients. They just see a box with an x where the image should be. Tested with internal and external recipients, Outlook and Gmail.

Retested in Internet Explorer. It works in our Summer '18 sandbox, too! Thanks @Emily Hann for posting the limitation. I'll own my assumption based on a quick test in only our preferred browser.

It seems odd to me that no one from Salesforce provided any feedback to clarify the status of the feature. We're a little confused that Chrome compatibility has not been addressed, given its ubiquitous use these days. Hopefully this will be resolved at some point soon.

In the meantime, we are grateful to have a solution coming!
