Dynamic Forms for Account Standard Object

Accounts & Contacts

This idea was created to track feedback and progress about enabling Dynamic Forms for the Account standard object. This is a continuation of the work that was started based on one of the top IdeaExchange ideas: "Dependent page layouts - data rules to show, hide, or make fields/sections req'd" (https://trailblazer.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000Brox), which resulted in the creation of the Dynamic Forms capability. Help us understand the value of having Dynamic Forms for Accounts by adding use cases and the impact it would have at your organization in the comments below.

New to Dynamic Forms? The more fields that you have on your page layout, the more that the Record Detail component becomes a monolithic block of fields that you can’t customize. With Dynamic Forms, you can migrate the fields and sections from your page layout as individual components into the Lightning App Builder. Then, you can configure them just like the rest of the components on the page, and give the users of that page only the fields and sections that they need. In the current absence of official support for Dynamic Forms for standard objects, I wanted to point out a couple of new tools that provide similar capabilities that you might wish to consider.

In Summer '21, Salesforce is shipping Dynamic Forms for Flow as a beta. (The initial implementation covers all primitive fields, but we haven't yet added support for important field types like Lookup and Picklist.) This blog post demonstrates how you can use Dynamic Forms for Flow with an easily installable Flow extension called Record Detail to create impressive replacement details sections for standard objects like Account and Contact. One nice thing about this approach is that you can experiment with it without making any modifications to any of your existing page layouts.

I want to emphasize that we do not suggest that this reduces the need to deliver full Dynamic Forms for standard objects. We just want to make sure that, until that functionality is available, you're aware of additional tools that might give you some of what you're looking for.
