One of Lightning Console's value propositions is "work lists fast with split view".

That should be available in standard navigation too.

Check this out in Summer '20! It's automatically available for all end users (no work required by the admin to enable this) for all entities/objects. Watch a demo here. I'll mark this "Partially Delivered" for a few months so the comments stay open.

FYI there were a couple fit-and-finish user experience items which did not make the Summer '20 release but which will remain in my backlog:

1) Maintain the expanded split view state in a variety of scenarios (e.g. creating a new record from the compact list view; selecting a record from Favorites or a utility item). (Reference W-7219170)
2) Update tab menu to include both options: open the current list in a new temporary tab AND open the current record in a new temporary tab. (Reference W-7187463)
3) Support split view when accessing a list that is not configured as a navigation item/tab. (Reference W-7498866)
4) Support split view in a related list.

When I select "Display as split view" in "Duplicate Record Sets" I obtain this error:

And no possibility to refresh, no possibility to select "Display as Table". Result: I can't view "Duplicate Record Sets".

Thank you, Xander, for this awesome feature. We've had to do a lot of projects working down list views and I told our sales team this feature was coming down the pipe. Once it finally rolled out, I'm recommending it for so many things because it saves our users having to click away from a list to do something, then come back. One sales rep would go down their list of accounts and right-click, open in a new tab on all the ones he wanted to follow up on and work through a bunch of tabs - but now he doesn't have to. This is a much-appreciated efficiency feature.

Beth - for the split view option to display, the Accounts tab needs to be pinned to the navigation bar first. Then your sales rep will be able to see the split view option. The accounts tab in your screenshot is not a tab that is part of the pinned navigation bar.

As you can see with this screenshot taken just now that my sales team does not have access to split view still. I do but it's not showing up for sales. How do I fix this?

As of Friday, July 24 this is live for 100% of users on 100% of orgs. If you're seeing something different, please let me know.

Personally, I would love to see some screenshares of people using this feature to do their job better/faster. It's been a fun feature to work on but we mostly dealt with prototypes in getting early customer feedback. I'm itching to see the real thing in action!

Hey Xander; we admins are able to view split view, but not other users. I'm reading through various documents and it appears that I have to create a Console View App in order for this to be viewed by others (I created a Test App and it works in Partial). Did I miss reading this in the release notes? also for our current Custom Apps, we cannot change Edit and change to Console view - any ideas?

Greetings Xander,

I echo what Admin Salesforce said, I see the split view in my Sandbox org but not in my production org. Sounds from the latest reply that we need to wait up to 30 days from our release date to get the split view in the production org. It is a great feature that will help go through records faster.

FYI re: the rollout schedule for Summer '20:

Because this is such a fundamental change and we want to be conservative in minimizing the risk of unintentionally degrading a customer's implementations (for reasons we couldn't have been aware of in our own testing), we are rolling out this specific feature instance-by-instance some time *after* that instance gets the Summer '20 release. The plan is to release this feature on a given instance within 30 calendar days (at the most) of the release *if* everything is going according to plan. (This is the intent behind "This functionality is available on a rolling basis during the Summer ’20 release" in the release notes.)

We've started getting cases from customers asking "Where is this awesome new feature that I can't wait to get my hands on?!?" so hopefully this helps clarify the situation a bit.

Full disclosure: I'm now a product manager on Work.com so I'm a bit removed from this rollout process but as I understand it things are still moving ahead. If you have a specific question and you don't want to wait out the release process, feel free to email me (xmitman@salesforce.com) and we can discuss your specific situation. Your success is still extremely important to me!!! :)

hi Xander,

i am wondering why i can not see the split view even after summer 20 release is rolled in our production org.
we can see good in our sandboxes but not in prod.
do we need to some extra steps as admin?

Good points Peter. I should mention that with this expanded exposure to split view, Jeff Davis (PM for Lists) is looking at ways to make split view more conducive to productivity - which would then apply to both the console and standard navigation styles.

There are a variety of Ideas on those which Jeff is aware of.

Thanks for the effort on this. It should be quite useful. it'll be helpful for the user to be able to define the (smaller) set of fields that appear in the split-view list. I'd also be interested in how to control the empty/white space. Some people like their lists in "comfy" mode, and others want to see as may records as possible at once.
