Also going to vouch for this request—though I'd revise a bit to ask to support x-API file uploads from tools like Articulate. It would speed up course authoring (esp with interactive material) and I think put myTrailhead at the top of the list for viable LMS & LXP options. And if the x-API data goes into Salesforce, then I think that's checkmate.  

I'm a bit surprised how much SF is pushing back on writing a SCORM player and API set for their myTrailhead community product.  Especially considering the enormous number of SCORM trainings that are already in this market segment.  Wouldn't it be fair to assume that SCORM compatibility is a fundamental feature before most established companies would consider moveing to this LMS.  

I also think this would be very helpful for those of us getting these huge files that need to be turned into Modules.  You can't really copy and paste what you need.

It sounds like SCORM is not in the backlog for Trailhead, but a couple of years ago it sounds like there was some consideration around x-API. Any progress on that?

The SCORM Pros:
IMO It also comes down to a factor of time & money. Companies don't have a full-time training department pumping out learning so have to focus on their business-specific process training (even big enterprises). So (eg) if suddenly your industry has a legal requirement about to be inforced and you need to train your staff it's easy to just go to an existing learning provider that pumps out industry-specific SCORM compatible learning courses which you can just purchase and just drop them into your learning system knowing that it's going to log and track the students experience and built with all the requirements etc you need without needing to research and create the course yourself. This is huge! Yet there is no AppExchange for myTrailhead yet.

Also, SCORM and learning systems generally are not great at gamification. Trailhead, on the other hand, is really good. But new research shows that this could be damaging to long term learning as well as putting learning into practice as learners may no longer get that instant gratification of a gamified learning experience. Trailhead is great at pushing up the Kirkpatrick learning model with the ability to test real-life scenarios in a students own org, but this isn't available in myTrailhead, without this the lacking of SCORM makes myTrailhead 

The SCORM Cons:
You don't have a controlled user experience. I like trailhead because I know a module section will only take around 15mins with potentially a couple of questions at the end, a SCORM course could be anything, it may take 30mins before it comes to a natural break in the learning, there is no way of knowing. Also, most SCORM course can't be done offline but trailhead can.

Hi Adam, our company has hundreds of SCORM learnings created over the last 10 years that are being hosted in Bridge.  In order for the business to shift to myTrainhead the effort required to retool each of those trainings is an effort that we can't afford as the team is busy on new content.  The SCORM learnings have tests and progress that call back to the platform that are reported on.  We can see which trainings people leave early and those that finish them plus their scores are reported back so that we can run reporting and assign certifications.  

The dream for me is that myTrailhead can just upload these scorm packages without any retooling or expensive implementation partner engagement.

The ability to lift-and-shift years of SCORM content over to myTrailhead is a critical feature before our org can move platforms.  

Hi @Vince - The priority hasn't changed since we launched. The feedback we've heard consistently is that there is interest in both integrating SCORM from 3rd parties as well as being able to life-and-shift existing SCORM content onto myTrailhead directly. At this point, there's no definitive work on our backlog to enable it. 

Adam, is Salesforce able to provide a update update on this position given its been a couple of years since your last post? @adamtorman 

My business stake holder would not move forward with a migration from Bridge to myTrailhead because of the lack of this feature.  I really would like this feature added so i can convince him to give it a try.

I love this idea. We're using a SCORM LMS right now that has an SFDC app, but it's just not cutting it (on the LMS side, not SFDC -- many additional issues). We don't want it just for the portability. We want the interactivity allowed by SCORM packages, not just static text or videos. To that point, I LOVE trailhead and appreciate the similarity carried over to myTrailhead, but the option for SCORM would be amazing.

This would make it far easy to get support real integration with our existing investment.  Without SCORM or some equivalent, it is an interesting diversion but not a Coporate Learning platform.

Yeah let's make this happen!

Companies have invested in authoring tools like Articulate 360 - which allow us to create content and export that into SCORM/X-API and such like.  Companies like mine are invested in these tools and have created many SCORM modules that have tracking information attached to them.  Not supporting SCORM would become a significant barrier in us considering myTrailhead as a learning solution, especially if mytrailhead is positioned as a learning management solution for all content (not just for learning salesforce).
