Ability to generate OpenAPI docs for REST-ful integration

Data Import & Integration

Salesforce provides the ability to generate WSDL documents for inbound integrations using SOAP (Settings > search for “API” > API > Generate Enterprise WSDL for example).  It would be nice to be able to generate YAML or JSON documents following the OpenAPI specification to facilitate integrating using REST.  Some tooling does exist to convert from WSDL to YAML (https://kalliphant.com/node-generate-yaml-from-wsdl/) but it would be nice to be able to generate OpenAPI YAML/JSON documents directly in Salesforce, perhaps alongside those “Generate * WSDL” links in the API settings page.

The scope of the Winter '21 pilot has expanded to allow participants to generate an OpenAPI Spec that reflects the shape and customizations of a specific org. To learn more, please see: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_openapi_spec_pilot.htm&type=5&release=230.
