Add fields to the search layout for Files in Lightning

Global Search - Desktop

It's not possible to add fields to the search layout for Files in Lightning, my users have requested that I add Created Date so they can sort by this field and select the most recently added File. Since Libraries has been sunsetted I think the ability to further refine search results by Created date is essential!

We have a valid use case that requires other information then provided by the standard view. We really don't need the nickname, other fields, sich as a link to the contact would be really helpful and save a lot of time.

We would like to be able to add the case number to the Files search results, so you don't have to go to the details for a file in order to find out which case it is linked to.

Please provide flexibility to search layouts and files to add custom fields based on Record type. I would like to display Custom fields such a File Type (Memo, agreement, Concept paper ..etc) and name of the Folders associated with it, so user can easily click and see the contents on that folder. Or if there is any way to add folderize the documents under files in the same record. For example, I am using Files under Opty that different internal and external groups are working on and they want to see different sections to keep their documents organized; like compliance documents, draft documents, assessment and financial, memo, final agreement and approval..etc. "access control should be added". I know library is having same concept for folders, but it is additional steps and not responding to the actual need. It would be useful for end user to see and action right from the related list.

I completely agree with the need for this. I had to download all my files from Documents and re-upload them as Files. Now they all have the same date and I cannot add a Created Date column. Should be an easy quick feature to customize columns in the Files screen.

It's unlogic that Serach layouts can be modified for objects in general - but it seems not for Files.... We are in the middle of a Lightning transition and users are struggeling to move away from a strict "Library"-view - so not be able to show meta-data in search layouts adds another downside...

Agree with Marco. Want the ability to display the description in the search results as the Title is not always enough information to choose the right files.

could be nice to have the description as well, not alway the Title of a file is having a meanful name.
We have a implemented a private community relying on library as core component for sharing files with our stakeholders, as we may have very big library the Title is not enough to identify the right file to view/download.
