Track the Progress of a Contact in Journey
There is no way to track where a contact is while they are progressing in a journey. The only way I can think of is by using the Update Contact activity in the journey and updating the record in the data extension with a value like "In Journey" or "Sent Email #1". Alternatively, if using the Marketing Cloud Connector, updating the Contact/Lead record with the status works too.
There should be an out-of-the-box solution to identify where a contact is in the journey.
