Global Picklists and Standard Fields

Accounts & Contacts

First, I want to say the feature I'm looking to expand on was a GREAT IDEA and thank you for delivering this to us.

Current Feature:

https://success.salesforce.com/ideaview?id=08730000000BrfBAAS

My idea is simply to integrate the new Global PickLists feature with previously existing Standard Field Global Pick list.  It would be great to see Standard Field Global PickLists (Lead Source, Industry) show as selectable Global PickLists for custom fields.

Example:  We've added Lead Source (standard field that has always used its own Global Picklists for Accounts, Leads, Opps, and Contacts) as a custom field on a custom object.  I would love for this custom field to pull from that same list of Lead Source values.  While it's true I could create Lead Source as a custom field on all of those other objects and then have them all reference a new Global PickLists that I create, this seems like a lot of work around.  Especially since we already have the standard Lead Source fields integrated with other systems (Marketo, etc)
