Hide Status field on Case page layout in Community


There is currently not a way to hide (or make Read Only) the Status field on the Case Page layout that is exposed in the Community.  The recommended work-arounds are to either create a custom visualforce page, or create a validation rule to stop the user from changing the value in the field.  The latter (declarative) resolution does not create a very nice user experience. As this field typically has a Default value, it is therefore always populated and should not be required to be exposed to the user.
